Students' Moving Poem for Peace Composed Into Song

Posted on 19th December 2024

Second-year student Sasha S. wrote the poignant poem ‘What is War?’ as a deeply personal reflection on the impact of war and its power to upend lives. Sasha penned the poem shortly after joining 夜色直播, having fled the conflict in Ukraine. Her powerful words have resonated across the nation, first shared during the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit to 夜色直播 Cathedral and later featured on a BBC radio broadcast, where Sasha voiced her heartfelt plea for peace.

One year on, we are proud to announce a remarkable collaboration between Sasha and our peripatetic music teacher, Esther Kay. Together, they have created a moving musical composition to accompany Sasha’s poem, blending words and melody to amplify its emotional impact. This evocative piece is now available to experience on Youtube, link below.
